Are you holding onto unforgiveness? I know, I know that there are somethings that are unforgivable. Yes! That's not a typo.
There are some aggressions, afflictions, crimes, harassment, injury, intention, words and schemes that are downright wrong. We've been wronged and the pain can be real for a lifetime.
Have you taken an opportunity to consider what Jesus did for you on the cross? Seriously, have you honestly thought about it? He suffered every "unforgivable sin" up to and including death for you and for me. He was WRONGED!
Why did He do that? To offer US forgiveness. You know...forgiveness for when you were the culprit. When you were scheming against and harassing those around you. When you were causing bodily harm and emotional scars that someone right now is fighting themselves to overcome.
That's what He died for! He died because we too are sinners. We forgive not because someone is innocent. Our forgiveness doesn't absolve from consequence or the necessity to severance a relationship.
Our forgiveness ensures that we can: 1) Receive the forgiveness we need. 2) We keep an intimate relationship with God. Restful Insight: Forgiveness is hard. It can even be impossible for you to do. Yes, I said impossible for “you” to do. There are injustices that were committed against us that go against our psyche. It flabbergasts our senses and our minds simple cannot understand forgiving someone who has hurt us. God knows this about us and some of the circumstances we’ve faced, but He is calling us to forgive anyway. Why? Because He is our strength when we are weak. Restful Response: Whatever seems impossible to do, Ask God to GRACE you to do it. Apply that in every impossible circumstance. The Holy Spirit is with us, to empower us to do the impossible through Jesus. Restful Scriptures: For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. ~ 2 Corinthians 12:10 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. ~ 2 Corinthians 12:9 Let's Pray! Heavenly Father, thank you that I can find rest in the hard things. Thank you that I don’t have to disobey you because what you require is difficult. I can rest in the assurance that the Holy Spirit will empower me to live out your Word daily. Forgive me for not forgiving. Help me to forgive those who hurt me. Help me to forgive those who are hurting me right now. I trust you above what makes sense to me. I receive your healing now of my emotional, physical and mental wounds. Today, I say yes to resting in your peace. In Jesus Name. Amen.
